Over the past few years, women officers serving major forces in the country have come to the forefront, leading many all-male contingents.

Here’s a list of all moments where women officers lead the way at important events-

Another first-time feat at the upcoming Army Day parade will be a female officer saluting the guests while leading the Army’s ‘Daredevils Motorcycle Display’ team. The team is famous for performing stunts and forming a pyramid. This year, Captain Shikha Surabhi will lead the team of 33 men.

Lieutenant Haobam Bella Devi unfurled the tricolour in 2015 for then President Pranab Mukherjee. The moment was significant in the history of Indian army as the honor is traditionally marked for male officers.
